"I might," he mewed. "And i'll be leader soon as well." His voice was dark, and his eyes glimmered with an unknown light. He wasn't scared to talk like this to Oakkit, he would not know he was planning to slaughter his mother and blame it on GraveClan...

Oakkit frowned a little adn said "but i dont want mam to die!". his amber eyes were steady as he watched creekfeather. Oakkit had never been a whiny kit or a crykit. he was strong and tough like the oak that he had been named for. he licked his tail and nommed on it a little before he said "when you are leader will you make me deputy please?" His amber eyes sparkled with hope.

Lilystar smiled to Creekfeather and Oakkit before bounding onto the Highrock and mewing, "All cats old enough to swim, gather here beneath the Highrock for a Clan Meeting." Her yellow-green eyes waited for the other cats to gather before beginning. "We will hold two ceremonies today. One for a deputy, and one for an apprentice." Her eyes were full of pride as her first kit was becoming an apprentice of OceanClan.

"By naming apprentices, we show that OceanClan will survive and remain strong. Oakkit, from now on you will be known as Oakpaw. Creekfeather, you are ready for an apprentice. You will be Oakpaw's mentor." The tawny she-cat purred loudly.

Badgerstripe returned to camp intime to hear his rival being named the mentor of his son. he narrowed his eyes a little before dropping his prey on the fresh kill pile and chanting "Oakpaw oakpaw!". His green eyes glowed with warmth at lilystar.

Oakpaw proudly lifted his head and touched his nose to creekfeathers. his amber eyes shone with admiration for the senior warrior. he flicked his oaken tail and whispered "imma be the best apprentice ever creekfeather!". he grinned he wanted to get started straight away.

Lilystar was unaware of Creekfeather's sinister plots, so naming him deputy only filled her with pride in her best friend. "I say these words before StarClan, so that they may hear and approve my choice. Creekfeather will be the new deputy of OceanClan." Her voice echoed through the camp, and she filled with joy as her first born from her first litter would be trained by OceanClan's deputy.

Another round of good news was about to be delivered to Badgerstripe as she bounded off the Highrock and padded over to her mate. She purred as the drew near and nuzzled his cheek when she arrived. "I have to tell you something important." The Clan Leader's eyes beamed proudly. "I'm expecting kits again." This was not unexpected news, Oakpaw was six moons old, and Silverkit was not actually her daughter... so expecting a litter at this time was quite fortunate.

Creekfeather touched noses to the newly names Oakpaw, and stirred with an evil ambition. Becoming deputy, then leader of OceanClan would surely prove his loyalty to StarClan. He'd just need to find a way to justify his killing of Lilystar, but she seemed so perfect! What could possibly be dishonorable about her?

"Oakpaw, let's go to the Otter Harbour. That's a good place to start your training. Let's go." He paused and added. "Badgerstripe, why don't you go and check the GraveClan border?" The tom's voice was filled with triumph, of course the Leader hadn't chosen her mate to be deputy.

Badgerstripe smiled with pride at his mate "congratulations lilystar!". he touched his nose to hers and purred lapping at her fur with his pink tongue. he felt a little uneasy about his kit being trained by creekfeather. creekfeather had been his rival when they were competing for lilystars affections.

Oakpaw flicked his tail and nodded, his eyes glittering with pride in his mentor. Creekfeather had said that when he was leader that oakpaw could be his deputy. his eyes shone with a slightly malicious intent as he gazed over at his mother. then he turned and leapt after creekfeather.

Creekfeather made his way through the entrance of camp, but cursed when he realized he'd gotten here before Oakpaw. The mottled cat must've wandered off on the way back. Flattening his ears, he padded over to the chatting mates and spoke to the tawny she-cat. "I'd like to inform you that your son, Oakpaw, has been completely disrespectful. I've confined him to camp until he learns what being an apprentice is all about." The tom quickly added, "But he did catch an otter on his first try. Very impressive." Just to make sure that he evened out the report.

Lilystar purred, but stopped short as her new deputy walked up and told her about her son's first day. The she-cat sighed and nodded her approval in his punishment and statement. "He'll learn eventually." Her mew was soft, but before she could add more, she clenched her jaw in pain. Turning, she limped away to the nursery. If the two males didn't know what was happening, they might as well be ignorant kits.

Oakpaw padded into oceanclan camp, and fluffed up his fur in preparation for another clash with his mentor. his Amber eyes glittered as he stared up at the deputy. he waited for minci to appear at his side. he had decided that he would dedicate his life to the pretty she cat.

Minci showed up beside Oakpaw and followed his line of sight to a big silver oriental tabby talking to a toyger in the middle of the clearing. "Who are they? And why is the camp so empty?" The young she-cat was right, when Oakpaw was last here, Lilystar and Spottedface had been in the Clearing as well.

The tom saw Oakpaw walk through, and was about to call out to him when a she-cat he didn't know followed him. The oriental had no intention of startling either of them, it was not his place to send this kittypet away. "Oakpaw, your mother is with Spottedface in the nursery. She just delivered her kits. And who is this?" He promted.

"this is my friend Minci" Oakpaw replied calmly "shes the same age as me and she wants to join the clans". Oakpaw met his mentors eyes squarely. as the son of the leader, he expected that he would get his way. a bit arrogant perhaps but not entirely untrue. he smiled at minci and curled his tail around hers.

Badgerstripes fur fluffed up a little as he saw his son bring in a kittypet. with an impatient whisk of his whiskers he said to creekfeather "im going to see my kits first"

Creekfeather stepped toward the dual-colored she-cat and took a sniff of her. He hated kittypets just because he was kittypet born, but only Lilystar knew that. His nose wrinkled in distaste and he turned his back on the two young cats to fetch Lilystar.

Minci shrunk away from the tom as he leaned in, her eyes wide in shock at his eye and a thick fear-scent coming from her pale fur. Her blue eyes focused on Oakpaw as the oriental bounded away. "He's scary." She squeaked.

"You should be more frightened of me, young one." The tawny she-cat said firmly. Her voice was edged with anger, but also curiousity. The Clan Leader turned to her son, "Oakpaw, what is the meaning of this? Taking a willing kittypet into the camp?" Her teeth were barred until she realized that this was exactly how Springstar scolded her for bringing Deisel, now known Creekfeather, into camp.

She sighed and bounded onto highrock. "All cats old enough to swim, gather here beneath the High Stone for a Clan Meeting." The tawny she-cat waited then continued. "By naming apprentices, we show that OceanClan will survive and remain strong. Minci, from now on you will be known as Featherpaw. Badgerstripe, you are ready for an apprentice. You will be Featherpaw's mentor."

The newly named apprentice's fur had bristled as the she-cat spoke, but it flattened out when she bounded onto a tall rock and spoke. Her blue eyes lit with joy and she looked around for this Badgerstripe. "Oakpaw, I'm an apprentice now! Do you know the tom who is my mentor?"

Oakpaw snuggled into featherpaws side and purred with affection. he said "thats my father who is gonna mentor ya". he grinned and licked her cheek before moving away and saying. "dont worry i wont let Lilystar nor Creekfeather hurt ya Featherpaw". he smiled saying her new name. "ill be your new protector". it was strange how this one kittypet could get him to open up so much. he lifted his head and gave a defiant glare at his mother/leader and creekfeather.

Badgerstripe padded out of the nursery and saw his son nuzzling what he assumed was his new apprentice. the toyger padded over and said calmly "im Badgerstripe your mentor, its getting late though so Oakpaw will show you the apprentices den and we will begin working tomorrow". he smiled and touched his nose to the kittypets nose.

Featherpaw dipped her head in new found respect for the tom, and turned to Oakpaw. "We better get some rest! Where do we sleep?" She mewed, her voice serious and excited. "We must have a lot of work to do." The snowy hued she-cat waited for her new friend's reply.

The tawny she-cat bounded off the High Stone and looked around the Clearing proudly. Totally ignorant of the inpending attack on her Clan from SkyClan and FireClan. She slipped away into the nursery to sleep for the night, her work for the day was done.
