Skyclan camp, clearing

The camp in general. Its a wide open space surrounded by large stones, and its warmed by the sun most days.

The young kit sat playing around with different coloured rocks. she enjoyed making up games with them as she was the only kit in skyclan at the moment. she gave a yawn that stretched and pounced on the pile she had made. she sat down and wonderewhere every one else had gone.

Sparrowclaw entered the clearing and saw that the kit was happily playing in the center clearing. His eyes brightened and he managed to find himself a decent piece of prey from the Fresh-kill pile before settling down. Tonight was the Gathering, he wondered how it would go down after the attack.

Maplewing limped into the clearing, her hind left leg was badly injured. Blood stained and flesh ripped, she could not walk on it yet... and probably not for a while. The tawny she-cat wandered over to Sparrowclaw and mewed, "We need a Medicine Cat. We must ask FireClan for help! We might all die if we do not, we are all injured."

"I agree with you, Maplewing." The copper mackerel tabby called. His body was covered in smaller gashes, and it looked as if it pained him to walk. "Dovestar must go and ask for Snowstep's help." The tom sighed and remembered how Badgerstripe had pushed on to protect his daughter. Even though Dustfeather was unaware that Silverkit was adopted, he was amazed that the dying warrior kept himself alive to see the release and protection of his kit.

Tigerkit yawned and perked her ears noticing everyone return. she yowled a welcome and happily bounced over to maplewing. she mewed "hey maplewing i invented a new game!". she wriggled her stump of a tail. her strong legs a classic skyclan asset. she leapt high into the air grinning excitedly then leapt back down "can i pleaaase go to the gathering please please please?"

Tailfeather returned to camp and shook his head at the mess of things that they had done "you idiots! what did you go attacking Oceanclan for! there was no reason to". he had a medicine bag around his neck that he had made from animal skins. he had plenty of herbs there and he began treating the warriors muttering under his breath. For maplewing he smeared a poultice onto her wound and bound it with cobwebs ordering her into the medicine den until further notice. he glanced at Dustfeather and snorted "what did you do get attacked by kits?". he smeared a little burdock root poultice on them to ease the stinging.

"No sweety, we are all very tired and very hurt. We will play when I'm better." She turned when Tailfeather walked through the entrance of camp. The deputy grimaced as he spread the herbs over leg, then padded away with a flick of her ears

Tailfeather grunted at Tigerkit and said "go back to the nursery, young warrior. Ill send Dustfeather or sparrowclaw to tell you the story soon". he glared at Dustfeather "your wounds will be fine, go and rest in the warrior den". he then turned and stomped out of the clearing towards the medicineen

Tigerkit pulled a face, it wasnt fair! she sighed and promised herself that she would go to the kitden as she called it when dovestar returned to camp. she trotted over to a sapling that was at the edge of the camp and began raking her claws through its bark purring happily.

The defeated SkyClan leader limped into the clearing. She had gotten torn up pretty good by Snakeheart, and went straight to Tailfeather's den. But right before she padded into the cleft, she purred. "Tigerkit, get to the nursery. It's getting late and you heard what Tailfeather said. You must listen to your Medicine Cat, they know best."

Tigerkit sighed and nodded "yes dovestaaaaar". as was her habit she drawled the star bit of Dovestars name. she bounced up and down a couple of times glancing over at the warriors and grinned. with a whirl she spun around and began heading toward the nursery

Sparrowclaw sighed, Maplewing was still recovering after six moons. What would Dovestar say? Would she demote her if the tawny she-cat did not get well soon. Her leg injury could permanently cripple her. All of his wounds had healed well, leaving no scars either.

Tigerkit bounded out of the nursery and tackled sparrowclaw "hey sparrowclaw! do you think that you will be my mentor when im made an apprentice?" her eyes were hopefull

The gray tabby bounded up onto the Great Tree and spoke loudly. "All cats old enough to lure eagles from the skies gather here beneath the Great Tree for a Clan Meeting." Her blue eyes wandered in search of all her Clanmates.

The ornery old medicine cat stomped over and sat down glowering at Tigerkit as tigerkit wriggled her tail and looked like she was going to bounce on the medicinecats ultra fluffy tail. His Pale eyes watched Dovestar with a faint look of mischeif.

Maplewing emerged from the Medicine Cat den, her eyes wide in dismay. Dovestar couldn't do this! She would get better, and it would happen quickly. The tawny she-cat prayed silently to StarClan that the tabby Leader was calling this meeting just for the apprentie ceremony of Tigerkit.

Sparrowclaw rised to his paws, curious to hear Dovestar's announcement. What was going on? Was Tigerkit to become an apprentice now? As the tom thought back, the young she-cat was six moons old. He also wondered if the kit was going to ask to be a Medicine Cat. Many of the Clan thought she was fit to be Tailfeather's apprentice.

"I saw these words before Maplewing, so that she may hear and approve my choice. Sparrowclaw will be the new deputy of SkyClan." Dovestar's voice shook as she replaced Maplewing from her position. Her blue eyes could not meet with Maplewing's gaze and she only dipped her head to Sparrowclaw before continuing.

"By naming apprentices, we show that SkyClan will survive and remain strong. Tigerkit, from now on you will be known as Tigerpaw. Dustfeather, you are ready for an apprentice. You will be Tigerpaw's mentor." Dovestar realized the cooper tom was not in the clearing. She glanced at Sparrowclaw, gesturing him to go find the warrior.

The tawny she-cat looked up in dismay as her Leader spoke the words that removed her from being SkyClan's deputy. She bore her tear filled eyes at Dovestar, not daring to look away from the Clan Leader. Maplewing bit back a small hiss and stayed bolted to her spot.

Tigerpaw giggled and jumped up high into the air with excitement. in celebration she gave the camp clearing a lap then sat down panting her eyes bright with excitement she mewed "we should take on Oceanclan and prove to them how strong we are! i wanna lead the charge! we are the best clan!". she gabbled in a rush, her eyes twinkling with mischeif.

The old yet handsome medicine cat sighed and padded after maplewing with a hint of hesitation. he padded over and sat beside her, he stared at her with sad eyes that showed his age. his green eyes flickered with heartbreak as he dipped his head and said in a gruff husky voice. "i failed you Maplewing, i am a failure as a medicine cat"

The tawny she-cat looked up at Tailfeather, and she replied. "No, if it has happened, then StarClan destined it so." Maplewing turned around and padded away, her tail swishing behind her and her paws moving exactly how Lilystar would walk. Her defeated green stare was on the ground.

Sparrowclaw was wide eyed with shock. But he didn't expect too much praise from his clanmates. They'd always loved Maplewing, and looked up to her like a leader already. How could he replace her? Dovestar was making a mistake placing him as deputy.

"Yes, Dovestar." He meowed and padded out of camp, following Dustfeather's scent carefully. The oriental tom finally swished out of camp.

Tailfeather fluffed out his silver and grey fur and gave a sigh. he stood and held his bushy tail up high in the air behind him as he trotted after maplewing. perhaps he would ask her to join him on a patrol. the old medicine cat still enjoyed patrolling borders and such.
