Great Oakling
A training ground for apprentices and mentors. They learns to climb on the Great Oakling, they learn to fight on the mossy clearing beside it, they learn the hunters crouch along the grass, and they learn to swim and fish in the river that cuts through the Forest.
Re: Great Oakling
Oakpaw bounded up to the giant oakling that he had gotten his kit name from. he grinned up at it and began hauling himself up the branches. he had the slightly webbed feet of Oceancclan cats as well as the muscular form of his father. the dead badgerstripe.

Featherpaw bounded into the clearing after Oakpaw, but stayed on the ground. "I guess I'm fighting Creekfeather first?" She asked, hre fur fluffing out as she tried to get the wetness from it.

Re: Great Oakling
The oriental hung back, making sure to stay downwind of the occupied apprentices. Creekfeather wouldn't let either of them take an easy win. He thought battle assessments should be the most difficult thing to fully impress a deputy on. He was a senior, well-trained warrior. These 6 moon trained apprentices should fight well, and get a good couple hits on him, but never could they actually win for a while.
"Yes, you will be." Creekfeather mewed as he leap forward to Featherpaw, his claws sheathed since it was plainly only an assessment. His large feet aimed for the smaller she-cat's back, he would intend to pin her to the ground, and knead his sheathed hind paws into her belly.

Re: Great Oakling
The white and silver she-cat tilted her head in confusion. Why couldn't he ask now? What a peculiar question if it had to be asked after her warrior ceremony. "Er okay." She meowed gingerly.
Her ears flicked at a slight noise and she swung around, her body immediately went light and she bounded away from the flying paws. Featherpaw turned and struck out with a strong forepaw, aiming for Creekfeather's face. Her claws were too sheathed and she flicked her long tail out for balance. "You can do better than that." She yowled. "Lilystar taught me lots of special moves, especially ones for oriental deputies." She added playfully.

Oakpaw slunk down the tree and sat on the lowest branch that could support his weight. he lashed his brown tail as he watched Featherpaw fight his amber eyes sparkled with affection and gentleness.

Creekfeather flattened his ears as a sheathed paw hit him hard across his muzzle. He hadn't expected the she-cat to be so fast. Lilystar taught her well. But an idea flicked in the deputy's mind. If she fought like Lilystar, he could pinpoint Featherpaw's weaknesses and avoid her strengths.
"Trust me, I can do better." He whispered and jumped forward, veering to the right before swiftly attacking from the left side. Lilystar was always bad at snake-eye attacks when they trained together as apprentices.

Featherpaw saw Creekfeather veer to the right, so she ran to the left only to get a sheathed paw against her shoulder. She barrelled over into the moss and immediately hauled herself up. She wasn't gonna let Creekfeather win, the she-cat ran full speed toward him and leapt up high before she reached him. She swung out with all paws in an elegant flip, this move was rare and hard to do. Among the clans only Lilystar, Maplewing, Flameclaw and Larkstorm knew how to do it. Now Featherpaw knew.

Re: Great Oakling
Creekfeather let out a mew of astonishment and felt four hard paws land squarely against his body. He went sliding at the force of each blow and felt himself buckle under a paw that flew against his head.
As the tom tried to rise to his feet, he crumbled to the ground again and again. His muscles were burning and his head rung with a throbbing pain. "Okay, you've won... Featherpaw. Now you can go anywhere in the territory to hunt. Bring back as much as you can by dusk. Dismissed."
After many moments, the deputy could finally get to his paws and walk around. His ears flicked with a visible irritation that he lost from one move. "Okay, Oakpaw. Show me what you've got."

Oakpaw drew back his lips in a hiss and leapt out of the tree, aiming to land on his mentors back with a quick ease. he had buffed out in the last six months, well worthy of the prefix of oak. his strong muscular body soared through the air.

Featherpaw nodded with pride and bounded away, giving a last glance to see Oakpaw's first move. The white and silver she-cat then finally turned and headed toward the place she liked best to fish. "Do well, Oakpaw."

Re: Great Oakling
Creekfeather was slightly disappointed in his apprentice's first move. Going head on was the younger cat's stradegy, but he made it so simple. The deputy quickly bounded out of the way, and waited for Oakpaw to land heavily on the ground. The tom then leapt forward, aiming to crush the mottled apprentice under his large weight and pummel his head with his paws.

Re: Great Oakling
The Brown apprentices amber eyes took on their sparkling fury, like they always did when he faced an opponent. he dodged the crush attack and took the pummeling with paws head on. he backed up though and raced at creekfeather, however at the last possible second he swept low aiming to grab Creekfeathers paw in his strong teeth.

Re: Great Oakling
Creekfeather was ready to slide underneath Oakpaw as he neared, but was caught by teeth. A pain hit his paw and he yowled with shock. THe oriental deputy backed away from his apprentice, a furious look on his face. "Have I taught you nothing of training sessions? You keep your claws sheathed and you do not bite. I am your clanmate, not an enemy warrior Oakpaw."
Blood dripped from Creekfeather's front right paw and he glared sternly at the mottled tom before heading back to camp. Deciding wether he should let this cat become a warrior, since he was ready to harm his own clanmates to get there.

Re: Great Oakling
The oriental arrived, smelling fox freshly. He smiled, perfect, it had started to follow his trail. The deputy had lined up a trail of rabbits straight toward the camp nursery, where he knew Lilystar would be when he left. Creekfeather stood and waited before heading back slowly, he knew the tawny she-cat would protect her kits with her life, even if it was her last.
